More than 120 items for evaluation have passed strict screening by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Within those items, the entire process that the patient experiences while using the hospital (safety, infection control, quality medical service, etc.) are evaluated.
It is a system to designate proven hospitals that foreign patients can find with confidence. It is a world-class certification system administered by Korea's Ministry of Health and Welfare. Evaluation includes number of the patients (number visiting), specialized services and internal infrastructure and systems for overseas patients, patient safety, safety of the surgery and procedure, infection control system, patient complaints handling system, all amounting to about 120 categories to cover compensation insurance for foreigners.
Korea is famous for the advanced technology for the plastic surgery. Out of the many plastic surgery centers in Korea, JK was the only institution to receive government accreditation twice, continuously.
JK Plastic Surgery Center is visited by foreign patients from over 100 different countries.
Having many foreign visitors is not simply a coincidence, it is a results of maintaining customized services and safety systems for overseas patients.
It was a good opportunity to be thoroughly tested for our Safety Management System of the surgery and recovery rooms. JK has maintained high standards for these rooms throughout its 20 year history.
Patients have the right to get their surgeries where infection control and emergency systems are well prepared. They cannot check those important points by themselves.
I am very happy to pass this field work assessment. Since plastic surgery is clearly a surgical operation, having a safe environment is important in addition to satisfactory results.
We have to thoroughly explain the surgeries and procedure plans ahead of time. Additionally, we must provide interpretation services in different languages from the consultation until departure and follow-up correspondence.
All pre/post-surgery information, precaution forms, and even possible side effects have to be fully explained to the patients.
One-on-one coordinators are assigned to the patients. Our coordinators passed our stringent standards: fluent in different languages, prior experience in international clinics, and official certifications such as international medical tourism coordinator.
The coordinators have specialized knowledge in plastic surgery and also attend classes to enhance their understanding of various cultures and religions.
Furthermore, precautionary and consent forms for the surgery are offered to the patients in various languages. Concierge services are also prepared for international patients who need airport pick up/drop off and a personal recovery room with the environment of a premium hotel.
Infection control and pharmaceutical management are the most important parts of managing a hospital’s internal system; the things that patients don’t normally see.
From this recertification, JK is reassured that our systematic safety management system, anesthesiology team, and emergency medical systems are fully prepared.
