plastic surgery center?”

- What kind of evaluation was conducted?

It is a system to designate proven hospitals that foreign patients can find with confidence. It is a world-class certification system administered by Korea's Ministry of Health and Welfare. Evaluation includes number of the patients (number visiting), specialized services and internal infrastructure and systems for overseas patients, patient safety, safety of the surgery and procedure, infection control system, patient complaints handling system, all amounting to about 120 categories to cover compensation insurance for foreigners.

- What does this re-certification mean
to foreign patients?

Korea is famous for the advanced technology for the plastic surgery. Out of the many plastic surgery centers in Korea, JK was the only institution to receive government accreditation twice, continuously.
JK Plastic Surgery Center is visited by foreign patients from over 100 different countries.
Having many foreign visitors is not simply a coincidence, it is a results of maintaining customized services and safety systems for overseas patients.

1. Services for the overseas patients

Interpreting Services

Interpretation services
Interpretation services are available for foreign patients, from registration to post-operative care. Coordinators are native speakers or fluent in the relevant language and undergo certification to qualify. Customer service team and all staff members are given regular education on various cultures.
Patient management service before and after hospitalization
Implementation of the management system in each step (visit -> care -> surgery/procedure -> from discharge to follow-up care)

Reliable Treatment

Specialized Medical Care System
The surgeon directly establishes a specific procedure or surgery plan and explains to the patient and guardian. Record changes in patient status after surgery or procedure.
Consent Forms
A well organized system including the surgery/procedures, sedation, and blood test consent forms. The patient and guardian have the right to know and full ability to make their own decision to undergo surgery/procedure.

Continuously analyze the patient's satisfaction and the results, apply to customer service approach.

2. Categories of Patient Safety

Safe Surgery Environment

Infection Control
Factors of hazardous environments, spread of infectious diseases, surgical instrument cleaning and sterilization, sterilization management, procedure / operation room infection control are all strictly controlled.
Drug Management
All medicines, including high-risk medicines, must be kept secured and comply with safety guidelines.
Anesthesia Care
An anesthesiologist will check and record the patient's breathing status, consciousness level, and assess the patient's condition every 15 minutes in the recovery room.

Convenient Admission Services

Patient safety system
In the event of a safety incident, the first witness immediately reports the situation to their doctor after first aid, and the doctor takes action.
Prevention of falling accidents
Assessment of falling risk for each patient and environmental management (with occasional checks for device attached).

Thorough Preparation for Emergency

First aid preparation
CPR training team (including surgeons and anesthesiologists), and regular CPR training for all employees.
Fire Safety Management
Establishment of floor evacuation process for internal self-defense fire brigade with regular fire drills for all employees.

We have to thoroughly explain the surgeries and procedure plans ahead of time. Additionally, we must provide interpretation services in different languages from the consultation until departure and follow-up correspondence.

All pre/post-surgery information, precaution forms, and even possible side effects have to be fully explained to the patients.
One-on-one coordinators are assigned to the patients. Our coordinators passed our stringent standards: fluent in different languages, prior experience in international clinics, and official certifications such as international medical tourism coordinator.
The coordinators have specialized knowledge in plastic surgery and also attend classes to enhance their understanding of various cultures and religions.

Furthermore, precautionary and consent forms for the surgery are offered to the patients in various languages. Concierge services are also prepared for international patients who need airport pick up/drop off and a personal recovery room with the environment of a premium hotel.
