Eye SurgeryPTOSIS CORRECTION

ptosis correction

What is Ptosis Correction?

Ptosis refers to the drooping of the upper eyelids. People with ptosis often have difficulty opening their eyes completely. This covering of the upper eyelids can cause the eyes to get tired easily and reduce the field of vision. Ptosis is caused by a weakened levator or M체ller's muscle, which is the main eye opening muscle. To compensate, people suffering from ptosis often unconsciously lift their eyebrows or forehead in an effort to raise the drooping eyelids. It is important to check whether you have ptosis or not before surgery. In the case of ptosis, a double eyelid surgery alone will worsen the condition and cause the crease to become easily loosened. However, ptosis correction will strengthen the eye opening muscles and create a natural crease to make the eyes open easily.

Ptosis Correction can Benefit
  1. 1. People with sleepy-looking eyes or who have a tired appearance
  2. 2. People who have asymmetric eyelids (droopiness, sunkenness, crease height, etc.)
  3. 3. People with ptosis symptoms
    * People with severe ptosis must consider only doing the incisional method.

PTOSIS CORRECTION METHODS

Incisional

How is Incisional Ptosis Correction Performed?

This method is similar to an incisional double eyelid surgery. While creating a crease by using a full incision, the eye opening muscle is tightened (shortened). This results in bigger and more defined eyes.

  1. eye with sever ptosis before surgery 1. Before procedure
  2. incision is made to create crease 2. Incision is made
  3. excessive fat is removed along the incision 3. Fat is removed
  4. eye opening muscle is tightened 4. Eye opening muscle is

  5. various tissues are manipulated to create a crease 5. Various tissues are

  6. natural crease with vivid eye appearance 6. Natural crease with
    a vivid eye appearance

Non-Incisional

How is Non-incisional Ptosis Correction Performed?

This method is recommended for people with minimal to moderate ptosis with relatively thin upper eyelids. It ties the levator and M체ller's muscle to the interior skin at several points to shorten the muscles. It can be performed alone or in conjunction with non-incisional double eyelid surgery to create a natural crease without any scarring. The advantages of this method are a short downtime, no scarring, and a natural-looking result.
